Local report — Lane spoils day for YVCC soccer

Scoring twice in the second half, Lane spoiled the debut of Yakima Valley Community College’s new on-campus soccer field, beating the Yaks 2-0 Friday afternoon.

Jamie Addington broke the scoreless deadlock with a goal in the 67th minute, and then assisted on Sable McGuire’s goal in the 79th minute to lead Lane.

Alexandria Foster made seven saves to earn the shutout.

Cassie Foster had 12 saves for the Yaks (0-1-1), who try for their first home victory today when they host Southwest Oregon at 2 p.m.

COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL

Wildcats drop two in tournament

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Central Washington’s four-match volleyball winning streak was halted Friday in the Concordia Radisson Roseville Classic.

The Wildcats dropped their first three-game sweep of the season to third-ranked Concordia-St. Paul 25-18, 25-14, 25-20, then fell to fifth-ranked Truman State 21-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 15-7.

Central, 7-3, continues tournament play today against Southwest Minnesota State and Augustana, S.D.

Against Concordia-St. Paul, Rachael Schurman had a team-high nine killsd while Kayla Roof had six kills and 12 digs.

Schurman totaled 20 kills against Truman State, with Kayla Roof adding 11 kills and 17 digs, Brandie Vea totaling 35 digs and Maggie Olson compiling 54 assists and 11 digs.
