| YAKIMA, Wash. — Sergio Lopez scored 20 of his game-high 23 points in the second half, and Tri-Cities Prep rallied for a 53-39 win over Clallam Bay in the first-round of the Class 1B boys state tournament Wednesday.
Lopez made 7 of 9 shots in the second half after missing eight of his nine shots in the first half. Trailing by 14 early in the third quarter the Jaguars rallied back with a 10-point run, including six from Lopez. Tri-Cities Prep took its first lead, 33-32, on Andrew LeBrun’s putback with 6:59 left. The teams traded leads six times until Antonio Ledesma’s field goal with 4:59 to play put Tri-Cities Prep ahead to stay. Ledesma finished with 10 points and eight rebounds for the Jaguars, who will face Wellpinit in Thursday’s quarterfinals. Jesse Chartraw led Clallam Bay with 20 points, two assists and two steals. |

| YAKIMA, Wash. — Lesjar McKinney scored 22 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, and Tulalip Heritage rolled to a 68-33 victory over Pateros on Wednesday in the first round of the Class 1B boys state tournament.
McKinney scored 13 points in the second half as the Hawks turned a 14-point halftime lead into a 43-point advantage, 63-20, early in the fourth quarter. Keith Davis added 15 points for the Hawks, which grabbed 41 rebounds as a team. The Hawks never trailed and shot 52 percent, while Pateros made just 23 percent of its shots. Abram Wilson led the Billygoats with 19 points and nine rebounds. |

| YAKIMA, Wash. — Cody Jess scored 16 of his game-high 23 points in the first half to lead second-ranked Almira/Coulee-Hartline to a 85-51 victory over Taholah.
Jess made 7 of 10 shots, including both of his 3-point tries, as the Warriors shot 47 percent. Kyle Tucker added 21 points on 8 of 13 shooting, and Derek Isaak chipped in 15 points. Tucker also grabbed nine rebounds. ACH rolled to an 25-10 lead after the first quarter, and extended the lead to 46-28 at halftime. Taholah never got closer than 16 points the rest of the way. Elijah Miller had 14 points and Jamaal Rose 11 for the Chitwhins, who committed 28 turnovers. |

| YAKIMA, Wash. — Kennedy Seyler poured in a game-high 26 points as Wellpinit raced to a 69-46 opening-round win over Lake Quinault in the Class 1B boys state tournament Wednesday.
Cody Flett added 17 points and 12 rebounds and Billy Flett scored 11 points for the Redskins, who rolled out to a 25-18 lead after the first quarter. Lake Quinault never got closer than seven, and trailed by as many as 24 points late in the game. The Redskins shot nearly 44 percent and hit 19 of 35 shots in the first half to build their lead. Seyler and Cody Flett each had 12 points in the first half, and Billy Flett scored all his points in the first half. Cody Flett also made five 3-pointers. Cameron Pumphrey led the Elks with 16 points, Cameron Daniels added 12 and Michael Mayton 11. |

| YAKIMA, Wash. — Jordon Wakefield scored 18 points and pulled down 18 rebounds, and Curlew held off a late charge to beat North Sound Christian 38-34 in the first round of the Class 1B boys state tournament Wednesday.
NSC trailed by 10 points midway through the third quarter, but trimmed Curlew’s lead to 35-34 on a basket by Daron Otis with 53 seconds to play. Ethan Mannick made a layup with 29 seconds left, and Tanner Somday added a free throw with 3 seconds left to seal the win for Curlew. Wakefield made 8 of 14 shots and Mannick added 10 points for Curlew. Otis led the Lions with 13 points. |

| YAKIMA, Wash. — Riggs Yarbro scored 19 of his game-high 29 points in the second half as top-ranked Moses Lake Christian fought off Oakville 62-51 in the first round of the Class 1B boys state tournament Wednesday.
Yarbro hit 8 of 11 shots in the second half, and pushed the Lions ahead to stay 43-41 on his basket with 38 seconds left in the third. Adrian Moffet added 24 points for the Lions, 17 coming in the first half. Yarbro pulled in 14 rebounds and Johnny Roberts 12 as Moses Lake Christian dominated the backboards 44-20. Izaha Powell led Oakville with 22 points. The Acorns trailed by eight points just before the half, then rolled off the next 12 points, including 10 straight to open the third quarter. Tucker Reinitz scored 12 points and Berry Peterson 11 for the Acorns. |

Tyler Edwards finished with nine points and sealed the win with a pair of free throws with 13 seconds left. Teammate Spencer Shanholtzer led Cusick with 10 points. Jim Maley paced Rosalia with 14 points and 12 rebounds, but he was held to just two points in the second half. |
