EPHRATA, Wash. — Dallas Maupin threw a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts, and Kittitas scored both its runs in the second inning as the Coyotes beat Oroville 2-0 to win the North Central 2B district championship Saturday.

Jordan Paul and Jordyn Hudson led off the second with singles, and Sareena Calahan followed with an RBI single. Oroville then walked the next two hitters, forcing in Hudson.

Kittitas, which had already secured a spot in next week’s state tournament at the Gateway Sports Complex  in Yakima, improved to 22-0.

SCAC DISTRICT

Cle Elum, Zillah on to state

Unbeaten Connell stormed to the title while Cle Elum and Zillah earned state berths in Saturday’s SCAC district tournament at the Gateway Sports Complex.

Pitcher Hailey Bator threw a shutout in the semifinals to lead Cle Elum to a 3-0 victory over Naches Valley, and then Connell won the final 14-0 over the Warriors.

Zillah won back-to-back elimination games over Goldendale and Naches Valley and then fell to River View 5-4 to lock up the SCAC’s fourth and final berth in the 1A state tournament next week in Pasco.

SCAC West MVP Korie Duce went 8-for-14 for the day to lead the Leopards. Alexa Krueger’s two-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh lifted Zillah over Naches Valley, 7-6.

No other details were reported for Cle Elum.

The SCAC’s state representatives, in order of seeding, are Connell (23-0), Cle Elum (13-7), River View (18-6) and Zillah (14-10).

EV-Spokane eliminates WV

HANFORD — West Valley’s Emily Harpel struck out 14 batters, but an error led to three unearned runs in the ninth inning as East Valley of Spokane beat the Rams 3-1 in a loser-out game in the Class 3A regional fastpitch tournament Saturday morning.

Starting with a runner on second, East Valley’s first hitter reached on an error. After a strikeout and a fielder’s choice, the first run scored on a wild pitch.

West Valley got a run back on Brooke Catron’s RBI single, and had the tying runs on second and third, but East Valley got the final out to hang on.

West Valley finished with a 9-15 record.

Thorp-Easton takes title

ZILLAH — With Kelsey Hutchinson pitching both games, Thorp-Easton defeated Klickitat and Pateros on Saturday to win the District 5-6 title and earn a trip to state in Yakima next week.

In Saturday’s loser-out semifinals, Thorp-Easton defeated Klickitat 11-1 and Pateros edged Sunnyside Christian 3-2.

In the championship game, the Wildcats scored eight runs in the fifth inning to pull away from Pateros for a 13-6 victory.

4A REGIONAL

CBBN sweeps state berths

Walla Walla clipped Kennewick 2-1 in the championship final of the CBBN-GSL regional tournament Saturday at the Gateway Sports Complex.

In the winner-to-state, loser-out game for third place, Kamiakin outlasted Eastmont 9-8.
