SPOKANE — A pair of extra-inning runs Monday against Spokane provided the Yakima Bears with some momentum heading into tonight’s home opener.

After falling behind 3-1 through five innings, the Bears plated two runs in the seventh on a home run by pinch-hitter Andrew Fie, and two more in the 10th to claim a 5-3 Northwest League victory — their first of the young season.

Third baseman Matthew Davidson and first baseman Ryan Wheeler each went 2-for-5 with one RBI, while shortstop Brent Greer finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

The Bears (1-2 overall) used five pitchers on the night, each throwing less than three innings. Pedro Rodriguez earned the win after striking out three and surrendering just one hit over the final two frames.

Indians starter Ben Henry went five innings, allowing one run on one hit. He also struck out seven.

Yakima hosts Eugene tonight at Yakima County Stadium beginning at 7:05 p.m. Former Seattle Mariner Edgar Martinez will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
