Yakima Bears update

June 27, 2009 by

Next game

Opponent: Eugene Emeralds.

When, where: 7:05 p.m. today, Yakima County Stadium.

Radio: KUTI (1460).

Probable pitchers: Eugene LHP Jose DePaula (1-0, 3.60) vs. Yakima RHP Andrew Wolcott (0-0, 4.50).

Notes

WE SIT CORRECTED: Though we reported Friday that the Bears’ four-game winning streak was their first since 2007, they had in fact not won that many in a row since Aug. 29-Sept. 1 of 2006. En route to a 28-48 finish a year ago, Yakima won three straight only once.

LATE ARRIVALS STILL POSSIBLE: Bears manager Bob Didier said Friday that Yakima’s roster is “probably 95 percent complete.” Meaning it’s possible that one or more late Arizona Diamondbacks signees might be sent here.

One who won’t is center fieldler A.J. Pollock, a first-round draft pick (No. 17 overall) out of Notre Dame. His contract included a clause that he be sent to long-season Class A South Bend of the Midwest League.
