7/2/09 Bears update

July 2, 2009 by Roger Underwood

Next game

Opponent: Spokane Indians.

When, where: 7:05 p.m. today, Yakima County Stadium.

Radio: KUTI (1460).

Probable pitchers: Spokane RHP Ben Henry (0-0, 3.12) vs. Yakima RHP Andrew Wolcott (0-0, 3.12).

Notes

ROSTER CHANGES: The Bears have released pitcher Jesse Orosco. Orosco’s father of the same name was a relief pitcher who appeared in more major league games than any player in history.

Meanwhile, Yakima has added right-handed pitcher Alex Thieroff, a free-agent signee from Southern Indiana.

Yakima is still waiting for infielder Evan Button to make his pro debut. A 22nd-round draft choice last month from the University of Mississippi, Button is recovering from an Achilles injury sustained during the Rebels run in the recent NCAA tournament.
