CWL Legion update
July 9, 2009 by Scott Spruill
Catching up on Legion baseball, the Pak and Beetles are off to out-of-state tournaments prior to their four-game series next Monday and Tuesday. Those games will conclude play for the locals in the Central Washington League, and the standings will be final Wednesday after Twin City and Kennewick finish off their series.
There is no district tournament, and the top four CWL teams will advance to the state’s four regional tournaments on July 18-19.
The Beetles (11-9) appear headed for Bellingham with the No. 4 seed. Fifth-place Pasco is done with league play at 10-14 and can’t catch Yakima.
Kennewick (16-4), Yakima Valley (15-5) and Twin City (15-5) will sort out the top three seeds — the Beetles could complicate things by sweeping the Pak — during the two rivalry series next week. Selah will host the CWL’s No. 1 seed with Colfax (No. 2) and Bellevue (No. 3) hosting the other four-team regionals.
