Firecracker Tournament opens today

YAKIMA, Wash. — The two-time defending champion Yakima Pepsi Beetles and the Yakima Valley Pepsi Pak open play today in the 28th annual Firecracker Tournament at Parker Field and Davis High School.
The 12-team wood-bat tournament concludes Sunday with placing games for seventh through 12th at Davis and first through sixth at Parker Field. The championship game is set for 4 p.m.
The two local teams will play back-to-back at Parker Field today, the Pak taking on the Clark County Coyotes at 4 p.m. and the host Beetles meeting Tacoma RBI at 7.
The Beetles are in the American Division with Anderson Hay, Bellevue Honda, Bankers Baseball, Tacoma RBI and the Puget Sound Roxx.
The Pak, which has placed third in each of the last three years, will be in the National Division with Lux Homes, Chaffey, Clark County, the Spokane Cannons and the Las Vegas Lions.

At Parker Field — Chaffey vs. Lux Homes, 10 a.m.; Lux Homes vs. Clark County, 1 p.m.; Clark County vs. Yakima Valley, 4 p.m.; Tacoma RBI vs. Yakima, 7 p.m.
At Davis HS — Bankers vs. Bellevue, 10 a.m.; Anderson Hay vs. Bellevue, 1 p.m.; Puget Sound vs. Anderson Hay, 4 p.m.; Spokane Cannons vs. Las Vegas, 7 p.m.
At Davis HS — Placing games at 9 a.m., noon, 3:30 p.m.
