ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Mackenzie Gant led a strong showing by Prosser swimmers in the preliminaries of the Class 2A-1A district swimming meet Friday at Central Washington University.
Gant had the fastest time in both the 100-yard butterfly and 100 backstroke. Teammate Hailey Rankin had the best 200 individual medley time, as did Prosser’s 200 medley relay.
Wapato’s Bethany Imperial was the top qualifier in the 50 freestyle, and the Wolves were quickest in the 200 free relay.
EV diver Kendra Gartrell was first and Selah’s Azalea Koestler second after the first round of dives. Finalists will have three more dives today.
In the 3A event, West Valley’s Keely Hausken swam the fastest preliminary times in the 100 free and 100 back, and the Rams had the top 200 medley relay time.
WV’s Robyn Sundlee topped the diving.
In the 4A meet, Eisenhower’s Emilie Pleger posted the top time in the 100 breaststroke.
The finals are today, with the 3A and 2A-1A events starting at 10 a.m, and the 4A events starting at 4 p.m.
