Selah-Prosser notes, CBBN crossovers

A look back at Selah-Prosser …
Zipping back to the office from Friday’s Selah-Prosser football game, I kept thinking of Jack Buck’s famous World Series line, “I don’t believe what I just saw.”
That Selah came off the mat to win 28-27 was amazing enough, especially after showing so little in the first half, but it’s not like Prosser gave the game away.
The Mustangs outgained Selah 302-267, did not turn the ball over, rode the sturdy legs of Isaac Anderson and managed the clock fairly well. And still couldn’t hold a 20-point second-half lead.
When Selah was riding its comeback on the arm of quarterback Trent Douglass, Prosser brought defenders up tight on Selah’s receivers and kept two safeties deep. But Douglass found good matchups across the middle and on the corners and got outstanding protection.
Selah’s two scoring drives in the final five minutes weren’t cheap, covering 70 and 71 yards. Douglass completed 8 of 13 passes for 123 yards on those drives. Tyler Weedin didn’t score either of the touchdowns, but his four catches for 64 yards on routes out of the backfield were crucial in sustaining the drives.
One thing Selah coach Jeff Jamieson made sure to do after the game was praise Anderson — “a flat-out stud,” who pounded on his defense for 169 yards on 36 carries. He also had a two-point conversion run. The sophomore RB got the call on 18 of Prosser’s 24 offensive plays.
So the CWAC’s three state qualifiers are set with Ellensburg, Othello and Selah and the final two weeks will sort out seeding.
CBBN crossovers
My bad on stating in Friday’s prep report that Davis would play Chiawana in the CBBN crossovers next week. The Pirates, as the Columbia’s No. 6 team, will travel to Cascade No. 6 Hanford. I thought the 3As got bounced out of these crossovers. Here are Friday’s CBBN matchups:
Regional play-in games
Pasco (2-5) at Eisenhower (8-0).
Kennewick (3-4) at Kamiakin (6-2).
Moses Lake (5-3) at Walla Walla (5-3).
Eastmont (3-5) at Southridge (6-1).
Richland (3-5) at Wenatchee (8-0).
Other games
Davis (1-7) at Hanford (3-5).
Chiawana (1-7) bye.
West Valley (1-7) at Sunnyside (2-6).
Note: Lampson Stadium will have a doubleheader with Eastmont-Southridge at 5 p.m. and Kennewick-Kamiakin at 8. Other times TBA.

They really need to stop all this CBBN nonsense. Hanford, West Valley and Sunnyside need to get out and the Mid-Valley league needs to be brought back. How rediculous is it that 2-6 SS and 3-5 Hanford will be in the playoffs? The 4A schools have a huge advantage and it’s just wrong to make our kids play the bigger schools. All it does is bring down mora with all the loses to 4A school.
Whoever made the decision to overpopulate the (CBBN playoffs)with to many teams, also wished that the teams didn’t keep score and the games were played for the sheer fun of it. Also why on earth does Chiawana have a first round bye, perhaps it was because of their stellar 1 win and 7 loss record?
