YAKIMA, Wash. — Selah swept through, while Grandview was stretched to the limit, but in the end, both ended up in the same place — the CWAC district volleyball championship match along with return trips to the Class 2A state tournament.

At Selah, the second-ranked Vikings beat East Valley 25-21, 25-16, 25-20 in a district semifinal match. East Valley advanced with a 27-25, 25-20, 25-17 win over Othello prior to the semifinal.

At Grandview, the eighth-ranked Greyhounds outlasted Ellensburg 25-23, 28-30, 17-25, 25-15, 15-8 to reach Saturday’s final. Ellensburg advanced by beating Ephrata, but the scores were not reported.

The entire tournament moves to Othello on Saturday, with Selah and Grandview playing at 3 p.m. Both teams qualified for state with Thursday’s victories.

Saturday’s play begins with consolation matches at 1 p.m., as East Valley faces Ephrata, and Ellensburg plays Othello. Those winners meet at 5 p.m. and that victor earns the district’s third state berth with the loser eliminated.

SELAH 3, EAST VALLEY 0: At Selah, Erin Smith totaled 13 kills, nine digs and three blocks as the Vikings swept East Valley 25-21, 25-16, 25-20.

Jamie Alliston added 22 assists, seven kills and 10 digs for Selah.

Selah highlights: Jamie Alliston 22 assists, 7 kills, 10 digs; Natalie Fickes 11 assists, 13 digs; Erin Smith 13 kills, 9 digs, 3 blocks; Samantha Harris 7 kills; Veronica Sanchez 17 digs; Kayla Dexter 4 kills, 4 blocks.

East Valley highlights (two-match totals): Mercy Yates 13 kills, 18 digs; Annie Martinez 21 kills; Kayla Davis 11 kills; Karlee Harris 5 kills; Kayla Alaniz 5 kills; Dani Najera 21 digs; Jaime Miller 58 assists.

GRANDVIEW 3, ELLENSBURG 2: At Grandview, Mikaela Espinoza had 10 kills and Payton Parrish added eight kills and 22 assists as the Greyhounds prevailed 25-23, 28-30, 17-25, 25-15, 15-8.

Grandview gained its 10th consecutive Class 2A state berth under coach John LaFever with the victory.

Grandview highlights: Adrianna Ramos 10 kills, 7 blocks; Mikaela Espinosa 10 kills; Haley Smasne 9 kills, 6 blocks; Payton Parrish 8 kills, 22 assists; Gabby Sauve 30 digs, 18 service points.
