Santos leads CWU at regionals

SAN FRANCISCO — Manuel Santos, a sophomore from Davis, was Central Washington’s top performer in the NCAA Division II West Region cross country meet Saturday at Speedway Meadows.
Santos was 26th in the men’s race, covering the 10k course in 32:28.25. Ellensburg’s Matt Nodine was 123rd in 35:19.6 as CWU finished 14th in the team standings.
The Wildcat women were 18th, led by Zillah senior Adriana Mendoza, who was 72nd. She covered the 6k course in 23:47.5. Junior Alex Borunda of West Valley was 76th in 23:51.7 and Ellensburg senior Stephanie Cooke was 92nd in 24:06.6.
