YVCC women top San Jose St.

YAKIMA, Wash. — Getting pins from Cynthia Castillo, Ashlee Phy, Stephanie Geltmacher and Nelly Aramburo, Yakima Valley Community College’s women’s wrestling team defeated San Jose State University 24-15 in a dual meet at YVCC’s Sherar Gym on Friday night.

Geltmacher’s pin at 148 pounds came against Stevie Ratto, who finished second in the nation last season.

YVCC’s men defeated a San Jose State team of freshmen and sophomores 45-3.

The Yaks travel to Forest Grove, Ore., on Sunday to compete in the Mike Clock Open.
