YVCC women dismiss Wenatchee Valley

YAKIMA, Wash. — Jumping out fast with a hot-shooting first half, Yakima Valley’s women’s basketball team cruised to a 77-53 victory over Wenatchee Valley in NWAACC East Region play Wednesday at Sherar Gym.
The third-ranked Yaks connected on 19 of 35 shots for a 42-23 lead at the break.
Anna Marchbanks scored three baskets during a 12-0 run early in the first half and finished with a game-high 16 points. She also sparked a big defensive effort with eight steals as the Yaks forced 32 turnovers.
Following up a 59-44 road win last month, Yakima Valley’s regional sweep over Wenatchee Valley pushed its records to 8-0 in the East and 16-4 overall.
