Davis’ thanks to CV band

March 7, 2010 by Scott Spruill

Davis athletic director Bob Stanley sent this letter to the Spokane Spokesman-Review and it ran in Sunday’s edition. The YHR also ran a letter from Angela Allen about this in Sunday’s edition, but a double dose is worth it. It’s one of those things that just makes you feel good…

At the 4A regional basketball tournament in Kennewick (last weekend), the A.C. Davis boys team was preparing to take the floor for a contest with the Richland Bombers. Our own band did not make the trip and through communications between a few staff members and students, the Central Valley High School band, which was there for the preceding contest in support of its girls team, agreed to stay and play for our team and fans.

The band’s play was truly outstanding and there was an instant comradeship between the students of both schools. As the contest ensued, the energy level and cheering from the Central Valley band inspired our students, fans and team.

The Davis Pirates earned a trip to the WIAA state championships that day and we will be forever grateful to the students and director of the Central Valley High School band. Spokane can be proud of the sportsmanship displayed by one of your high schools.

Bob Stanley, A.C. Davis athletic director
