Elofson Leads WV to Golf Win

YAKIMA, Wash. — Anna Elofson shot 72 over 15 holes to lead West Valley to a victory over Selah and Ellensburg in a non-league girls golf match Tuesday at Apple Tree Golf Course.

The varsity match was halted after 15 holes because of darkness.

Team scores (At Apple Tree Golf Course): West Valley 341, Selah 407, Ellensburg 565.

Medalist: Anna Elofson WV 72 (15 holes, darkness)

West Valley: Anna Elofson 72, Taylor Boyle 81, Kayla Rothenbueler 87, Taylor Chadwick 101, Brooklyn Wood 108

Selah: Briana Nelson 89, Cassy Burns 104, Ashley Anderson 104, Taylor Jones 110, Ashlee Brockman 120, Katie Daniels 132.

Ellensburg: Jennifer Perrie 102, Jessica Schademan 110, Alex Gumeson 124, Autumn Grassel 129, Ashley Bacon 130.

Lugers win gold, bronze

Yakima’s Caroline Goyette captured two gold medals, and Breanna Rosencrance won a bronze medal in the USA Luge Youth Nationals on Feb. 27-28 in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Goyette, 13, won gold in the Youth Women’s B Division, and also won the overall national championship. It was her first appearance in this event.

Rosencrance, 13, won bronze in the Youth Women’s A Division event.

YOUTH BASKETBALL

St. Paul girls post perfect season

The St. Paul School girls eighth grade basketball team completed a second straight undefeated season, finishing this season with an 18-0 record.

Participating players from  both teams are Deanna Avalos, Kate McGree, Marie Boutillier, Megan McCanna, Grace Martin, Clare McGree, Hailey Kingman, and Olivia Martin.

The coach is Shawnta Bush.
