Rec Notes/Local Report: EV girls win Magic tourney

YAKIMA, Wash. — The East Valley seventh-grade girls team went undefeated in winning the 12th annual Magic of Basketball AAU Tournament this past weekend in the Lower Valley.

Team members are Alexia Chavis, Lexi Carpenter, Mariah Rojas, Katie Freisz, Berenice Amador, Maddy Ingraham, Bonnie Robertson, Shannon Bloom, Allison Eckart, and Lauren Spencer.  The coaches are Ty Ribail and Jaime Chavis.

Sunnyside Lil Griz win tourney

The Sunnyside Lil Griz won the fourth-grade boys division in last weekend’s 12th annual Magic of Basketball AAU Tournament.

Sunnyside won both it’s games, including a 44-22 victory in the championship game.

Team members are Anthony Sanchez, Tyler Hunsaker, A.J. Ramos, Art Palacios, Moises Morales, Skylar Gray, Izzy Zavala, Jr., Diego Garza, and Trey Sanchez. The coach is Izzy Zavala, Sr.

LATE TUESDAY BASEBALL

DUFUR 10, LYLE 9: At Dufur, Ore., Dylan Davis hit a three-run homer in the third inning and Lyle tied up its season opener with five seventh-inning runs on six walks and a hit batter, but Dufur got the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh.
