ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Central Washington University’s Manuel Santos, a sophomore from Davis, won the 5,000- and 10,000-meter races in Saturday’s Spike Arlt Invitational at Tomlinson Stadium.

Santos won the 5,000 by three seconds in 15:48.99 and clocked 32:23.70 in the 10,000 in a rarely run distance double.

The Wildcats scored 13 event victories, including 10 on the men’s side.

In addition to Santos, CWU’s double winners included freshman Anthony Wright (100, 200) and junior Torrie Self (discus, hammer). Wright’s highlight was a 10.65 clocking in the 100, and Self improved on her NCAA Division II provisional national qualifying mark in the hammer at 170-9.

Davis grads Shawna Schooley and Emmanuel Contreras swept the steeplechase races for Everett Community College, and Riverside Christian grad Natalie Nobbs won the long jump for Seattle Pacific.
