Sunnyside’s Hart advances to final

YAKIMA, Wash. — A pair of wins on Sunday, including a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over No. 1 seeded Phillip Ansdell of Seattle, earned Sunnyside’s Brian Hart a berth in the Mens 35 singles final in the Pacific Northwest Adult Sectional tennis tournament at the Yakima Tennis Club.

Hart advances to face David Ebel, the No. 2 seed and No. 1 ranked player in the Northwest, today in a 10 a.m. final.

Abby Olbrich of Vancouver defeated Joy Leising of Portland to claim the women’s open singles title.

Asay takes bull-riding lead

ELLENSBURG — Kanin Asay’s 86-point ride on Hornet was enough to claim the lead in the bull-riding competition after Sunday’s performance of the Ellensburg Rodeo.

Ryan Gray and Steven Pebbles remained in first place in the bareback competition after 85-point rides on Saturday.

Travis Carnine leads the steer wrestling competition with a two-round combined time of 8.6 seconds.

Clint Cooper (17.6-second combined time in tie-down roping), Wade Sundell (85 points in saddle bronc riding), Colby Siddoway and Justin Davis (10.9 seconds in team roping) and Sherry Cervi (34.75 seconds in barrel racing) also hold leads after Sunday.

D.J. Domangue used a pair of 90-point rides to claim the average title in Saturday’s Extreme Bulls show. Bobby Welsh scored 1751/2 points for second place.
