Girls roundup: Sunnyside rallies to edge WV

SUNNYSIDE, Wash. — Starting the final period with an 8-0 run, Sunnyside’s girls charged ahead and held off West Valley for a 57-55 victory in CBBN 3A basketball Friday night.
Freshman Jordan Rodriguez scored nine of her 24 points in the first period and finished with three 3-pointers for the Grizzlies (6-4, 9-6). Rodriguez also had seven rebounds.
Sophomore Ashley Gray scored 23 points to lead West Valley (4-6, 8-7).

DAVIS 70, WALLA WALLA 57: At Yakima, Wash., Cierra Juarez, Alexis Perez, Jenny Morales and Heidi Ceja combined to score 47 points for the Pirates, who were within 45-40 starting the fourth quarter.
MOSES LAKE 55, EISENHOWER 25: At Moses Lake, Wash., junior Destiny Sanford scored 10 points to lead the Cadets, who host Richland tonight.

EAST VALLEY 52, ELLENSBURG 32: At Ellensburg, Wash., Yasi Mohsenian and Jamie Hodgson scored 13 points apiece as the top-ranked Red Devils remained unbeaten.
EV led 29-10 at halftime.
WAPATO 63, SELAH 42: At Wapato, Wash., Sammi Jo Blodgett scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures for the Wolves, who jumped out to a 22-8 lead after one quarter.
GRANDVIEW 66, OTHELLO 25: At Othello, Wash., Payton Parrish scored 19 points and Marissa Caballero scored 14 to help lead the Greyhounds.
TOPPENISH 44, QUINCY 37: At Quincy, Wash., Tara Bremer scored 19 points for Top-Hi, which outscored the Jackrabbits 31-21 in the second half.
Marinda Talley had 18 points and 14 rebounds for Quincy.
EPHRATA 53, PROSSER 37: At Ephrata, Wash., Heidi Buchert’s 14 points led the Tigers, who outscored Prosser 18-3 in the second quarter.

LA SALLE 49, NACHES VALLEY 35: At Yakima, Wash., Deanna Avalos scored 15 points, while Kate McGree added 12 points and Karly Sattler scored 11 points in the Lightning victory.
Naches Valley’s Justine Benner scored 18 points to lead all scorers.
GRANGER 49, HIGHLAND 15: At Cowiche, Wash., Lindsay Oswalt scored 18 points for Granger, which led by a point after one quarter before outscoring the Scotties 16-1 in the second period.
Freshman Paige Blodgett and Brook John scored eight points each for Granger. Olivia Newman led Highland with five points.
ZILLAH 65, CLE ELUM 41: At Cle Elum, Wash., Whitney Winters and Alexcis Higginbotham scored 13 points each in the Leopards’ road victory.
Kassidy Ruggles added 12 points for Zillah.
Cle Elum’s Sara Ferguson led all scorers with 14 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Ferguson also had seven steals and five blocks.
KIONA-BENTON 39, MABTON 27: At Benton City, Wash., Taylor Brown scored 10 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the Bears’ victory.
