Prep roundup: Sunnyside finishes 7-0 in duals

YAKIMA, Wash. — Finishing off its second straight unbeaten run through conference dual meets, Sunnyside’s sixth-ranked wrestling team kept possession of the Rock trophy with a 54-23 victory over West Valley on Thursday.

The Grizzlies, who finished 7-0, started with four straight wins for a 23-0 lead and ended up winning 10 of the 14 matches.

Sunnyside and West Valley will reconvene Saturday for a series of non-league dual meets at Eisenhower with Davis. The CBBN 3A district meet is slated for Feb. 3-4 at Hanford.

Davis closed out its CBBN 4A season with a 54-21 win at Richland to finish 3-3, and Eisenhower narrowly lost at home to Moses Lake 35-34.

In the CWAC, Selah knocked off previously unbeaten Othello 33-26 to create a three-way tie for first with Ellensburg at 7-1. The league finishes today with four makeup matches, including Ellensburg at Toppenish and Quincy at Selah.
