ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Taylor Tanasse said he was “just doing my job,” after a monster game at defensive end Saturday.

If so, the Central Washington senior from West Valley indeed did quite a job in the Wildcats’ 37-17 defeat of Simon Fraser in Tomlinson Stadium, enough so to have been named the GNAC’s defensive player of the week on Monday.

Tanasse’s teammate, Sean Davis, was named special teams player of the week.

Tanasse had five tackles Saturday, four of which were for lost yardage including a sack of Clan quarterback Trey Wheeler. He also deflected a Wheeler pass that was eventually caught by Wheeler for no gain.

Davis, meanwhile, kicked two field goals including a 48-yarder for CWU, the second-longest of his career. He also booted four extra points and averaged 40.7 yards on three punts.

Central (1-2 GNAC, 1-3 overall) hosts Western Oregon on Saturday.
