Magers, Arndt help lift JRW to title

YAKIMA, Wash. — Tom Magers hit a grand slam in the first inning and that was plenty to back pitcher Shayne Arndt as JRW & Associates repeated as Yakima men’s fastpitch champions with a 10-2 victory over Jason Davis Insurance on Wednesday at Kiwanis Park.
Arndt pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts, no walks and no earned runs.
Tim Roinestad added a two-run homer in the sixth inning to JRW’s 13-hit offense.

Upper Valley edged 5-2
IRVINE, Calif. — Despite outhitting its opponent for the second straight day, Upper Valley slipped to 0-2 at the Western Regional Junior League tournament on Wednesday.
Henderson, Nev., scored three runs in the fifth inning to rally for a 5-2 victory over the Washington state champions, who play Scappoose, Ore., today.
Taylor Logan pitched five innings, allowing just three hits, and Daniel Spencer threw two shutout innings of relief for UV.
