Northwest Naturals win consolation title

ROCKFORD, Ill. — Kevin Thompson’s sacrifice fly scored Mo Lebron with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth as Northwest Naturals beat the Palm Springs Express 6-5 to win the consolation bracket championship in the North American Fastpitch Association Class A World Series.
Lebron opened the eighth with a double and moved to third on a wild pitch.
Sean McCauley was 3 for 4 with an RBI, and Jason Scheibner was 2 for 4 with an RBI in the game for Northwest Naturals.
Northwest Naturals reached the consolation final with a 12-10 victory over JV Tube, as Jason Scheibner went 2 for 4 with three RBI, and Terry McIntyre added two hits and two RBI.
Northwest Naturals were eliminated from the main bracket when Joe Janicke’s two-run homer capped a three-run bottom of the sixth and gave Liberty Fastpitch a 3-1 victory.
