CLASS 2A
W. Valley-Spo. (9-2) at Prosser (9-1)
When: Saturday, 1 p.m.
What’s next: Quarterfinal vs. Ellensburg-Deer Park winner.
Notable: The Eagles beat EV-Yakima 35-7 on Tuesday in regional play with Dylan Ellsworth running for 141 yards and a TD on 21 carries. Ellsworth, who has 12 TDs in the last seven games, was on WV’s 2009 team that reached the state final. Prosser is 17-1 in first-round games since 1991.
Ellensburg (8-3) at Deer Park (9-1)
When: Saturday, 1 p.m.
What’s next: Quarterfinal vs. West Valley-Prosser winner.
Notable: The eighth-ranked Stags have won five straight since a loss to Cheney, a team Ellensburg defeated 36-35 in overtime on Tuesday. RB Jason Jorgenson is Deer Park’s horse, scoring 14 TDs in the last five games, and Zach Mohr kicked a school-record 51-yard field goal two weeks ago.
CLASS 1A
Chelan (7-3) at Cle Elum (9-1)
When: Today, 7 p.m.
What’s next: Quarterfinal vs. Royal-Colville winner.
Notable: The No. 6 Warriors won at Chelan 49-14 on Sept. 16 with 628 yards of offense. No. 7 Chelan was without QB Michael Amsel, who has thrown for 16 TDs and run for seven scores in the last seven games. He scored four TDs in a 36-35 loss to No. 1 Cashmere.
Zillah (7-3) at Cashmere (10-0)
When: Today, 7 p.m.
What’s next: Quarterfinal vs. Freeman-Connell winner.
Notable: The top-ranked Bulldogs have outscored teams 487-155 and are coming off a 56-20 regional win over Newport. RB Moe Roberts has run for 1,304 yards and 26 TDs and QB Casey Ruether has 900 yards and 12 TDs on the ground.
CLASS 2B
DeSales (7-2) at White Swan (7-3)
When: Today, 7 p.m.
What’s next: Quarterfinal vs. Warden-Colfax winner.
Notable: No. 7 DeSales won at White Swan 42-16 on Sept. 16. QB Jeremiah Cox threw for 222 yards and four TDs in a 35-34 overtime victory over Reardan last week. Since starting 1-3, White Swan has won six straight and outscored opponents 259-83.
GIRLS SOCCER (QUARTERFINAL)
CLASS 1A
Cashmere (18-0) at La Salle (16-0-2)
When: Saturday, 1 p.m.
What’s next: Semifinals and finals at Shoreline Stadium, Nov. 18-19.
Notable: Gaby Gonzalez (26 goals, 19 assists) was league MVP for Cashmere, which has lost in the quarterfinals in each of the last four years. Tianna Helm (22 goals) and Breanne Knishka (20 goals) make it hard to mark just Gonzalez. La Salle’s Grace Martin has scored 16 of her 27 goals in the last six matches.
