Selah keeps team title; Cadets’ Walls, Rams’ Delozier take individual crowns ||
KENNEWICK, Wash. — For the second year in a row, Selah peaked at the perfect time to capture the Class 3A-2A team title and Yakima bowlers swept medalist honors at Friday’s 4A and 3A-2A district championships at Spare Time Lanes.
With consistency and depth, the Vikings outdistanced runner-up Kennewick by 94 pins to take the 3A-2A title and earn a trip to state in Tacoma on Feb. 3-4.
Selah and Kennewick will represent Eastern Washington in the 3A-2A state field, and Moses Lake earned the lone 4A state berth.
Senior Taylor Jones led the Vikings with a 524 series and junior Emily Imbery checked in with 505.
Selah trailed Kennewick and West Valley after the three full games but posted the three best Baker games, including back-to-back 207 scores to start the seven-game Baker series.
“Before those Baker games all I said was to relax and have fun,” said Selah coach William Foster. “We came out with a 207 to take the lead, followed with another 207 and basically never looked back. It was a remarkable effort by the entire team.”
West Valley’s Ally Delozier and Eisenhower’s Megan Walls were Friday’s individual winners.
Delozier’s 575 series in the 3A-2A competition was the best of the day overall and included games of 201, 186 and 188. Teammate Miki Campbell was fourth with 527 and will join Delozier at state.
Walls topped the 4A field with a 552 series and turned in the best game of the day with a leadoff 223.
