College roundup: Balanced CWU men beat MSU Billings

BILLINGS, Mont. — With a 57-point second half and six players scoring in double figures, Central Washington stormed to a 99-89 victory over Montana State Billings in GNAC men’s basketball Thursday night.

Jody Johnson and Lacy Haddock had 16 points each and Toussaint Tyler and Jordan Coby had 15 apiece as the Wildcats, who trailed 46-42 at halftime, picked up a big road win against a team above them in the conference standings.

“We shot the ball a lot better in the second half and really cleaned up the rebounding,” said Central coach Greg Sparling.

Montana St. Billings tops CWU

ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Bobbi Knudsen scored a career-high 25 points and added five assists, and Montana State Billings topped cold-shooting Central Washington University 61-52 in a GNAC women’s basketball game Thursday at Nicholson Pavilion.

The Yellowjackets (17-8, 9-5) didn’t shoot particularly well themselves at 37.7 percent (23 of 61) but Central (6-14, 3-10) was even worse at 32.2 percent (20 of 62).
