Sources: Moore signs with Lions

YAKIMA, Wash. — Former Prosser High and Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore has signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent, according to multiple reports on Saturday.
The Idaho Statesman’s Chadd Cripe reported that Moore confirmed the signing via text message.
The Lions had not confirmed the signing late Saturday.
Moore would be the third quarterback on the Lions’ roster along with starter Matthew Stafford and backup Shaun Hill. Their third-string QB in 2011, Drew Stanton, left in free agency, according to the team’s website.
Moore would join former Boise State wide receiver Titus Young on the Detroit roster.
Many draft pundits downgraded Moore, who went 50-3 as a starter in college, due to his relatively small stature at 6-feet tall and lack of arm strength.
“The NFL guys would be the first to tell you that,” Boise State coach Chris Petersen told the Idaho Statesman. “They really feel like certainly at that position there’s a minimum cutoff and if you’re not that, they’re not willing to take too much of a chance.”
“I do think there are a lot of teams who were extremely intrigued by him and who would have loved to get him on their roster,” Petersen said. “The Lions are the ones who are extremely fortunate. They’re going to get a good player. … If a team gives him a legitimate chance to learn the system and get reps, I really believe he will be in the NFL for a while.”
