Firecracker Tournament opens today

YAKIMA, Wash. — Doubling in size from eight to 16 teams, the 31st annual Firecracker Tournament opens today at three sites in Yakima with the host Yakima Pepsi Beetles scheduled to play twice at Parker Field.
The Beetles will play the Humboldt Seals at 4:30 p.m. followed by the CG Hustlers at 7 p.m. Yakima will complete play in the Red Division on Friday with a 7 p.m. game against the Spokane Crew at Parker Field.
The top eight seeds move into the championship bracket over the weekend while seeds 9-16 move into the consolation bracket. The championship game will be played Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at Parker Field.
Fields at Davis and La Salle will also be used in the tournament.
The Skagit Sox, last year’s Firecracker champion, is in the White Division with Walla Walla, the Spokane Heat and Columbia Basin Desert Dogs.
