Martin, Cole lead Women’s City

June 26, 2012 by

YAKIMA, Wash. — Pat Martin remained in the top spot at the Yakima Women’s City Tournament, but she has some company after Tuesday’s second round.

Robin Cole turned in a dazzling 2-over par 76 in wet, cool conditions at the Yakima Elks Golf and Country to grab a share of the lead with Martin, who fired a second-straight round of 81.

Their 162 totals are four shots better than five-time defending champion Nancy Eglin, who shot an 81 Tuesday. Chris Scacco is fourth at 168.

Martin, an eight-time winner, is looking for her first City title since 2006, while Cole is seeking her first City crown.

Olive Ruff holds a four-shot lead in the First Flight, and Kris Sterns had a two-shot advantage over Cathy Buchanan and Janet Bassell in Second Flight.

In the net competition, Cole is first in the Championship Flight, and Ruff and Pat Mosley led the First and Second flights, respectively.

After an off day today, the field will finish up Thursday at Apple Tree Golf Course. Players will have a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
