Local report: Upper Valley wins again at state

ARLINGTON, Wash. — The Upper Valley Little League Juniors defeated Stilly Valley 7-1 in the Washington State Juniors state tournament on Wednesday.

Upper Valley’s Taylor Logan pitched five innings with four strikeouts against the tournament hosts.

On offense, Upper Valley was led by Nolan Cookson, who went 2 for 3.

With a win in today’s 6 p.m. game, Upper Valley would advance to Sunday’s state championship game.

Upper Valley Highlights: Daniel Spencer 2 IP, K; Cameron Walker 1-4, Chase Wells 1-3, Sam Wells 1-3, Nolan Cookson 2-3, Jay Whorton 1-1; Chase Olson 1-2.

YAKIMA, Wash. — Mark Seward clouted a grand slam and added an RBI triple as Jason Davis Insurance downed the Morton Supply Gamblers 9-7 in men’s adult fastpitch action Wednesday night at Kiwanis Park.
