Local report — NV twins top dive meet

MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Twin brothers Daniel and David Whitmore of Naches Valley took top honors and qualified for Class 2A-1A state in the process during Friday’s 11-dive meet for all classifications.

Daniel Whitmore totaled 308.6 points, well above the 280 needed for state, while David Whitmore was second at 298.6.

Jacob Hino of Eisenhower claimed top 4A honors, totaling 281.45 points and West Valley’s Brian Pulsipher was fourth in the 3A competition with 227.8 points. For 4A and 3A divers, 300 points were needed to qualify for state.

Another qualifying meet will be held at Central Washington University in three weeks.

Class 4A: 1, Jacob Hino (Ike) 281.45; 7, Ian Kinney (Ike) 176.8.

Class 3A: 1, Austin Kent (Eastmont) 419.1; 4, Brian Pulsipher (WV) 227.8; 6, Sean Wilkinson (WV) 213.65; 7, John Swayne (WV) 212.9.

Class 2A-1A: 1, Daniel Whitmore (NV) 308.6; 2, David Whitmore (NV) 298.8.

COLLEGE WRESTLING

Yaks win three of four matches

Yakima Valley wrestlers won three of four men’s and women’s matches Friday against Pacific University and the Central Washington University Club team in Sherar Gym.

YVCC’s women were 7-6 winners over a Central team in which both wrestlers are Yaks alums and former All-Americans. They then defeated Pacific 10-6.

YVCC’s men downed the CWU club team 18-6, but fell to Pacific 27-19.
