Local report: CWU’s Davis finishes 8th in pole vault

MANKATO, Minn. — Central Washington senior Kati Davis placed eighth in the women’s pole vault Friday in the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships, earning all-American status for the second straight year.

Davis, from Tumwater High School, cleared 12 feet, 1 1/2 inches, tying with two other vaulters but placing highest by virtue of fewest misses.

The winning height was 13-1, cleared by Kristen Hixson of Grand Valley State. Davis was seventh in the D-II Outdoor Championships last May.
