Local report: CWU men sign guard Williams

April 26, 2012 by

ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Central Washington has landed another men’s basketball standout from one of the best junior college programs in the state.

Dominique Williams, a 5-foot-10 guard from reigning NWAACC champion Tacoma Community College, has signed with CWU, the university announced Wednesday.

Williams, who can play both the point and shooting guard positions, is originally from Tacoma, where he prepped at Curtis. He will have two years of eligibility remaining for CWU.

Prior to joining the Wildcats, he played two seasons for former CWU assistant coach and current TCC mentor Carl Howell.

At Tacoma, Williams led the Titans to a 52-7 record over two years. And in last month’s 110-98 NWAACC title game win over Chemeketa, he totaled 36 points, five rebounds and five assists was named the tournament’s MVP.

Williams was recruited by CWU associate head coach G.E. Coleman.

Last season the Wildcats listed five former Tacoma CC players on their roster — four of whom were underclassmen.
